The countermeasures committee of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism has released a summary of measures to enhance flight safety to prevent a recurrence of the plane crash that occurred at Haneda International Airport earlier this year.
These include adding sound and light warning systems and increasing the number of air traffic controllers.
The committee's report pointed out that the main cause of increased safety risks at Japanese airports mainly comes from human errors such as misjudgments by pilots and air traffic controllers.
A typical example is the collision between a Japan Airlines (JAL) commercial plane and a Japan Coast Guard plane on January 2, which was caused by the coast guard plane entering the runway without permission from air traffic control.
