Vietnam Education Publishing House "accused" of copyright infringement by some websites and online learning platforms

On March 19, the Vietnam Education Publishing House said that a number of websites and online learning platforms have violated the copyright of this publisher's textbooks.

Recently, on some websites and online learning platforms such as Easyclass (Easy Class Educational Technology Company Limited) and some other units, audio files of textbooks and electronic learning materials were posted based on the structure, topics, materials, and ideas of the two textbooks " Connecting knowledge with life", "Creative horizon" and English books of the Vietnam Education Publishing House (VN Education Publishing House) to collect usage fees from users.

According to the provisions of Clause 2, Article 20 of the 2005 Law on Intellectual Property (amended and supplemented in 2009, 2019, 2022), the creation of derivative works must have the permission of the copyright owner and pay royalties and other material benefits (if any) to the copyright owner.

Easy Class Education Technology Company Limited produces and sells electronic learning materials based on textbooks of Vietnam Education Publishing House.

The leaders of Vietnam Education Publishing House affirmed that the production and trading of electronic learning materials based on original textbooks by Easy Class Education Technology Company Limited and several other units without permission from Vietnam Education Publishing House is a copyright infringement.

This not only seriously violates intellectual property laws and infringes on the rights of Vietnam Education Publishing House and authors, but also directly affects the legitimate rights and interests of students and teachers when using these platforms.

According to the leader of Vietnam Education Publishing House, this agency is asking the authorities to support and clarify the above violations, ensure the rule of law, protect the legitimate rights and interests of businesses, teachers and students nationwide.
