Hai Phong When demolishing the constructions that had received compensation for clearance, the construction unit mistakenly demolished a level 4 house, larger than 130 m2, without agreeing to hand over the site.

On the evening of August 14, Ms. Pham Thi Thu Trang said she had sent a petition for help and worked with the An Duong district police about the destruction of her family's house at number 15, Cat Tat village, An Dong commune.

At around 5am on August 10, Ms Trang received a report that 10 people and two excavators were demolishing the 130.3 square meter house. When she arrived, Ms Trang saw that the walls, roller shutters and entire roof had been destroyed. "Many of the family's belongings and a safe containing 30 million VND were also gone," Ms Trang said.

At the scene, Ms. Trang met with the leaders of the An Dong Commune People's Committee and asked why her house was demolished. "The commune leaders said the construction unit did not have information and mistakenly demolished my house. They invited us to the commune to discuss a solution with the relevant parties," Ms. Trang said.

An Duong District Police and representatives of the Procuracy were present to record the incident. On August 14, the district police also issued a notice of receipt of Ms. Trang's "crime report".

According to the leader of the People's Committee of An Dong commune, Ms. Trang's house is in the area of land clearance to build a traffic intersection at the intersection of Ton Duc Thang - Mang Nuoc - National Highway 5. However, her family has not agreed to the compensation plan. The authorities have not yet made a decision to enforce land recovery.

The leaders of An Dong commune said that the clearance was carried out by the An Duong District Construction Investment Project Management Board. This board hired a private company to demolish four structures that had received compensation money next to Ms. Trang's house. However, due to a lack of careful survey, the construction company demolished the wrong house, the leaders of An Dong commune said.
