On May 13, news from Saigon Can Tho Eye Hospital said that the hospital's doctors had just successfully treated a female patient with a congenital strabismus of 15 degrees and a complication of double vision.

The patient is Ms. LT.PT (45 years old, living in An Giang ), who has a congenital strabismus of 15 degrees. Nearly a year ago, Ms. T. had eye surgery at a hospital in Ho Chi Minh City. After the surgery, the strabismus did not go away and caused complications such as double vision, seeing one object as two. The prolonged illness caused Ms. T. to have a great impact on her daily life and work, forcing her to quit her job, and her spirit was depressed and she felt inferior.

Mrs. T's vision recovered after surgery.

After visiting Saigon Can Tho Eye Hospital for examination, Ms. T. was diagnosed with post-squint surgery diplopia. This is a dangerous eye disease with symptoms of seeing 1 as 2 with 1 or both eyes.

The cause of diplopia in Ms. T's case was that both eyes did not undergo macular diplopia testing before strabismus surgery, causing the images obtained by both eyes to not be in the same position and the brain to receive signals with two different images.

One week after surgery, both eyes of the patient recovered, vision returned to normal. Strabismus and diplopia were effectively treated, the patient no longer had symptoms of seeing one object as two objects.

Dr. Tran Van Ket, Director of Saigon Can Tho Eye Hospital, said that double vision treatment for patients can involve surgery, vision therapy, prisms or medication depending on the cause and severity of the disease.
