On the morning of November 10, the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations in collaboration with the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association and the Ha Tinh Union of Science and Technology Associations organized a workshop to disseminate knowledge on developing ornamental plants and shade trees of high economic value. |
Deputy Secretary General of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations Le Cong Luong delivered the opening speech at the workshop.
Ha Tinh is a rapidly developing province with rural and urban structures being planned, renovated, and upgraded to meet the criteria of new rural areas and civilized urban areas. Many streets, village roads, and alleys have been planted with ornamental trees and shade trees, not only bringing a new look to urban and rural areas but also having environmental and economic value.
At the same time, the demand for flowers, ornamental plants, and shade trees is increasing; the movement of renovating mixed gardens, building garden models, and eco-tourism areas is increasingly spreading. Therefore, the field of ornamental plants and shade trees will be a promising production and business sector in the locality.

At the workshop, delegates focused on discussing the role of the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association in developing the ornamental plant ecological economy; the legal basis for implementing the economic development goal from ornamental plants and shade trees; promoting the value of trees in urban construction and development; the potential and some new points in developing ornamental plants and shade trees with high economic value in Ha Tinh; developing ornamental plants associated with preserving and developing medicinal values; the role of trees in adapting and mitigating climate change in urban areas; immediate and long-term solutions to implement the economic development goal from ornamental plants and shade trees...
At the workshop, leaders of the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Associations and the Vietnam Ornamental Plants Association affirmed their readiness to support the introduction of experts and technology transfer connections for Ha Tinh in the field of developing ornamental plants and shade trees with economic value. Thereby creating jobs, increasing income, and shifting the agricultural economic structure of the locality.
