On the morning of August 21, hundreds of parents of students with permanent residence in Tay Mo ward, Nam Tu Liem district, Hanoi city showed up at Tay Mo 3 Primary School, demanding to confront the school about the information that their children were not admitted.
Regarding the above incident, at noon on August 21, a representative of the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem district said: Tay Mo 3 Primary School is a public school separated from Tay Mo Primary School and is for children of people in the ward.
After separating grades 2, 3, 4, 5 and recruiting new grades 1, the total number of students at Tay Mo 3 Primary School is 30 classes, with 1,111 students, exceeding the target of 30 classes with a maximum of 1,050 students.
All students in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 separated from Tay Mo Primary School and newly recruited (grade 1) are students in Tay Mo ward according to the prescribed enrollment route (belonging to groups 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and the ungrouped building in the adjacent urban area of Tay Mo ward).
First grade students are recruited according to regulations, according to the right subjects that have been assigned to the zoning with a registration quota of 400. However, due to the rapid population growth rate, by the end of the enrollment period, the total number of students recruited exceeded the quota by 60 (with a total of 460 first grade students, divided into 13 classes). Cases that do not submit applications within the prescribed time are considered as having no need.
According to the Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem district, there are currently 3 main groups of students wishing to study at Tay Mo Primary School, including:
Firstly, students in grades 2, 3, 4, and 5 from neighboring schools applied to transfer to the new school. According to a preliminary survey, Ly Nam De Primary School has 233 students applying to transfer. Secondly, students from other provinces and districts have just moved to live in apartment buildings. Thirdly, students entering grade 1 this year did not apply to the school during the 2024-2025 school year admission period.
Among these, there are some students who applied to other schools, but now seeing that Tay Mo 3 School is in operation, they have withdrawn their applications to transfer back.
The Department of Education and Training of Nam Tu Liem district said that this unit has organized propaganda and distributed application forms for parents of students who wish to apply.
The Department of Education and Training receives applications, compiles information, classifies subjects, counts numbers, reports to leaders and advises on solutions according to current regulations.
