Along with that, many news and articles about the SEA Games football tournament by Mr. Long have recorded the actual atmosphere of watching and cheering for the Vietnamese football team abroad; promptly reflecting the emotions and images of people far from home during the glorious moments of Vietnamese football. In particular, his news, articles and reports on the Covid-19 pandemic have recorded the feelings and support of Hai Duong people abroad towards their homeland. Journalist Vu Huy Long said that in order to write an article about Hai Duong people celebrating Tet abroad, he had to find Facebook groups of the Vietnamese community in that country, then text and call to ask for connection. He connected through relatives and friends who were living and working abroad. Some refused, some were hesitant, but there were also people who opened up. It was these scattered pieces that created full, emotional stories.
Mr. Long said that one of the difficulties in making news and articles about Hai Duong people abroad is the time zone difference. “I remember during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2021, I had to call the person in the US at 12:00 pm in Vietnam, which was also 9-10:00 am in the US. There were times when I had to reschedule many times because the person could not talk for long. Another difficulty was that I had to guide the person to take the best quality photos and videos so that they could be used. But not every time went smoothly,” Mr. Long said.

Similarly, reporter Do Quyet also makes the most of social networks, relatives, and friends to connect. Some of his articles reflect complex issues such as illegal immigration, financial risks, cultural gaps, loneliness in a strange place, etc.
“The hardest thing is how to write correctly and truthfully without hurting the character or offending the readers. We have to verify carefully, call back many times, and compare information from many sources. Writing about people far away requires even more caution,” said Mr. Quyet.
Not only do the articles reflect, they also become an invisible thread connecting people far from home with their homeland. Many young people in the US, Korea, and Japan have contacted the reporter, sending more documents and images, and even inviting the reporter to continue writing the story of their community.
Mr. Nguyen Van Quy in Lac Long commune (Kinh Mon) regularly reads newspapers and watches Hai Duong radio and television, saying that Hai Duong Newspaper and the provincial Radio and Television Station have updated a lot of information about Hai Duong people both domestically and internationally. Every time there is an important event in the homeland or country, seeing relatives in newspapers and on radio makes me even happier.
