Pa U is a mountainous commune, a particularly difficult border area, with a poverty rate of 63.99%, and 100% of the population being La Hu ethnic people. Although still poor, wherever you go to the La Hu villages, you can hear the voices of children studying; adults working hard. The people are increasingly united, joining hands with the Border Guard to maintain national sovereignty and border security.

Officers and soldiers of Pa U Border Guard Station help La Hu people dismantle old and temporary houses.

In the past time, implementing the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, officers and soldiers of Pa U Border Post ( Lai Chau Border Guard Command) have contributed both labor and money to help the people. They regularly coordinate with local authorities to propagate to the people about the purpose and profound humanistic meaning of the program. Thereby contributing to strengthening the people's trust in the Party and the State; actively participating in local construction, protecting territorial sovereignty, border security, building a strong people's heart position, and a solid people's border defense.

Following Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Quy, Political Commissar of Pa U Border Guard Station, we went to Tan Bien village and witnessed with our own eyes the Border Guard officers and soldiers carrying bags of cement, corrugated iron sheets, and bricks, walking for kilometers, wading through streams, and crossing forests to build houses for the people. The soldiers in green uniforms built houses and many civil works; while working, they also guided the people on how to grow rice, grow crops, and raise livestock and poultry. In the midst of hardship, the affection between the army and the people became stronger and closer.

Pa U Border Guard Station coordinated with the commune's departments to help Pa U people level the ground to build new houses.

Lieutenant Colonel Cao Van Quy shared: Right from the implementation of the Program to eliminate temporary and dilapidated houses, we determined that this was not only a task but also a responsibility and sentiment towards the people. Since the implementation of the program, Pa U Border Guard Station has mobilized more than 200 workers to build new houses with the people. With the motto "the government supports funding, the army supports working days", we hope that the people will have a decent place to live and eat, thereby feeling secure in working and producing, firmly protecting the border.

Standing in front of his family's newly completed house, which had just been supported by officers and soldiers of Pa U Border Post with a day of construction, Mr. Thang Ga Xa, a resident of Mo Chi village, Pa U commune, confided: "Before, the house was leaking, the wind and rain blew into the kitchen, and I couldn't sleep well at night. Now that we have a solid house, my children no longer have to shiver in wet blankets. Thank you very much, soldiers."

Mrs. Vang Go Go, a resident of Co Lo village, emotionally shared: My house used to be a thatched hut, wet when it rained, blown away by the wind. In my whole life, I never dared to dream that I would have a solid and spacious house like today. Thank you, soldiers, thank you, the Party and the State. Thanks to this program, we poor people have changed our lives, from now on we don't have to worry about the roof being blown off, and my children and grandchildren also have a place to study properly. I am very grateful!

Border guards help La Hu people dismantle temporary and dilapidated houses.

The simple words of the La Hu people are a vivid proof of the strong military-civilian relationship at the Fatherland's border. And from such practical actions, the officers and soldiers of Pa U Border Post have contributed to building a solid position in the hearts of the people, spreading the belief in a more prosperous and sustainable life for the La Hu people.

Helping people to remove temporary and dilapidated houses is not only a purely mass mobilization activity, but also demonstrates the responsibility, the close-knit affection between soldiers in green uniforms and the people of all ethnic groups in the border areas of the Fatherland. These simple but loving actions are the spirit of “soldiers and people are like fish and water”, clearly demonstrating the role of the Border Guard in protecting and developing the prosperous border areas.

Each new, spacious and solid house completed by the Border Guards means that the La Hu people have a safe and secure place to live, lighting up the hope of a prosperous life in the highlands. With the help of the soldiers, the people not only have a place to shelter from the rain and sun, but also have more motivation to escape poverty and gradually build a prosperous life.
