Digitizing data of 325,000 e-commerce booths, Hanoi collects nearly 35,000 billion VND in tax revenue

ANTD.VN - Hanoi Tax Department's data on e-commerce business activities recorded 117 million sales transactions, from which it identified and located more than 325,000 booths corresponding to 222,000 tax codes, thereby collecting nearly 35,000 billion VND in taxes.

Hanoi Tax Department said that in order to continue improving the effectiveness of tax management, the Tax sector has focused on building a Big Data database based on the national population database that has been successfully deployed under Project 06 of the Government ; combining databases of the Public Security, Planning and Investment, Social Insurance, statistical agencies, State Bank, Natural Resources and Environment, Transport, etc.

And especially the Tax Data Warehouse database of more than 80 million taxpayers who are enterprises, organizations, individual households, and individual businesses nationwide.

Based on big data, Hanoi Tax Department has digitized and connected information to build and develop an e-commerce database system, which can accurately identify taxpayers with business activities in cyberspace.

E-commerce tax collection increases sharply thanks to data digitization

Currently, the Hanoi Tax Department has basically had a complete database for organizations and individuals doing e-commerce business, managing data with over 117 million records of sales transactions. From there, identifying and locating more than 325,000 booths corresponding to 222,000 tax codes as owners and traders on e-commerce platforms.

The detailed information that the tax industry has access to includes: name, address, citizen identification card, email, phone number, warehouse address, bank account, and sales value on e-commerce platforms.

As a result, in the first 10 months of 2024, the total state budget revenue from e-commerce activities was nearly 35,000 billion VND, an increase of 9,000 billion VND, equivalent to 136% over the same period in 2023 (before implementation).

In each case where e-commerce business activities have been identified to the extent that tax declaration and payment must be made, the tax authority has assigned each tax officer to conduct propaganda and provide maximum support to guide taxpayers to register, declare and pay taxes to the state budget in the easiest way.

For cases of intentional tax evasion that have been explained but not complied with, the Tax Department will resolutely handle them according to the law.
