Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien said that Vietnam is actively completing preparations for the important event of the 80th anniversary of the founding of the country. Overseas Vietnamese around the world are very interested and expect to participate in the country's important commemorative activities.
Informing the press, Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien said that the Committee is proposing to the competent authority to allow the organization of a delegation of overseas Vietnamese to attend the Anniversary Ceremony. This activity is to meet the wishes of overseas Vietnamese to directly attend major events of the country, and at the same time show respect for the contributions of the overseas Vietnamese community in the cause of protecting and developing the country.
On this occasion, the Committee will launch a series of activities for overseas Vietnamese, including the program "Vietnamese Language Honor Day" and training courses for leaders of overseas Vietnamese associations.
Spread the love of Vietnamese
Taking place from March 29 to August 21, this year's Vietnamese Ambassador Search Contest in Vietnam has attracted the active participation of a large number of Vietnamese people abroad. The contest is currently entering the final round, and contestants are completing videos to submit to the contest. The Jury will select at least 5 best contestants to become Vietnamese Ambassadors abroad in 2025.
Mr. Nguyen Trung Kien said that this year's contest received more than 50 entries with rich content, expressing deep love for the Vietnamese language and pride in the homeland and country of overseas Vietnamese around the world.

The Closing Ceremony of the Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the Overseas Vietnamese Community in 2025 is scheduled to take place on August 14 in Hanoi , in both in-person and online formats. The event will summarize activities in response to the Vietnamese Language Honor Day in the period of 2024-2025, and at the same time discuss and propose directions for implementation in the coming time.
Next, the Gala “Dear Vietnamese” and the Award Ceremony of the Contest to Search for Vietnamese Ambassadors Abroad are scheduled to be held on August 21, with the theme “The river flows forever, connecting all directions” . The theme evokes the image of the Vietnamese language as a persistent flow of history, culture and national soul, spreading continuously in the Vietnamese community around the world.
The program aims to honor the beauty of the Vietnamese language, promote the mother tongue as a sacred symbol connecting the origin with the future. Through the stories, examples and creativity of the "Vietnamese Ambassadors", the program contributes to spreading the love of the Vietnamese language, nurturing the spirit of turning towards the homeland, arousing the responsibility and aspiration to preserve the Vietnamese cultural identity in each child living abroad.
Strengthening connections with Vietnamese associations
The 2025 training course for leaders of overseas Vietnamese associations took place from March 28-31 in Hanoi. Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien said the program demonstrated the deep concern of the Party and State for the overseas Vietnamese community and the consistent policy of great national unity.
Within the framework of the program, delegates will be updated on the domestic situation, foreign policy, functions and organizational structure of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese; overseas Vietnamese communities and associations, connections with the country; legal issues of Vietnam and other countries...
The program also creates conditions for association leaders to directly learn and witness the country's development, thereby becoming active bridges to spread accurate and objective information about Vietnam among overseas Vietnamese communities in the host country. This is one of the meaningful activities, linked to a series of major domestic events in 2025.

Responding to questions from the press about the possibility of overseas Vietnamese participating in the parade at the 80th National Day Celebration of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Chairman of the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Nguyen Trung Kien said that the Committee has proposed to the Organizing Committee to allow the overseas Vietnamese to participate in the parade in a block passing through the stage at Ba Dinh Square.
However, the organization of overseas Vietnamese in the parade is still awaiting official opinions from relevant agencies, including the Central Propaganda Department and the Central Committee for Mass Mobilization. Currently, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is actively seeking opinions and will have a response as soon as possible.
