Strengthening prevention of natural disasters, fires, explosions, and theft in museums and relics by 2025

The Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) requires localities to review plans and measures to prevent natural disasters, fires, explosions, and theft; regularly inspect, maintain, and maintain technical equipment related to protection and preservation work to ensure absolute safety for documents and artifacts being kept and displayed at museums and relics during the rainy and stormy season.

That is the request of the Department of Cultural Heritage (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism) in the Official Dispatch sent to the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism/Department of Culture and Sports of provinces and centrally-run cities on strengthening prevention of natural disasters, fires, explosions, and theft in museums and relics in 2025.

Implementing the Prime Minister's instructions and guiding the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to strengthen the work of preventing natural disasters, fires, and thefts at agencies and units, proactively and promptly responding to natural disasters and climate situations with many complex and unusual developments, adverse impacts, and potential risks to the work of preserving and protecting cultural heritage, relics, museums, artifacts and auxiliary works, the Department of Cultural Heritage requests the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism/Department of Culture and Sports of provinces and centrally-run cities to closely coordinate with local authorities to strengthen the implementation of a number of tasks such as:

For localities where storm No. 3 passes: In the immediate future, strictly implement Official Dispatch No. 3566/CD-BVHTTDL dated July 21, 2025 of the Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism on urgently deploying emergency response to storm No. 3 in 2025; urgently inspect, evaluate and promptly take measures to overcome the consequences caused by storm No. 3 on relics and museums in the management area. Take measures to reinforce, strengthen and handle areas at risk of landslides, damaged technical equipment, and areas that can cause fire and explosion... to ensure the safety of relics, museums, artifacts and users.

In addition, localities need to organize assessments and review of the entire current status of museums, relics, outdoor exhibition areas, related auxiliary works and the entire green tree system, etc. to develop a plan to prevent and handle the risk of damage and loss of safety in case of risks (heavy rain, floods, storms, lightning and risk of damage due to intentional sabotage).

Strengthen the organization of propaganda activities, disseminate knowledge on natural disaster prevention, fire, explosion, theft for museum staff, relic management boards/centers, people directly looking after relics and visitors; encourage support between museums, relic management boards/centers for museums and relics affected by natural disasters to restore operations soon.

Assign leaders to be on duty at museums and relics to ensure monitoring, supervision and timely response to risks. Regularly grasp and update information on weather and storms on mass media to proactively develop plans and measures to prevent natural disasters and respond to risks that may cause damage to museums and relics. Proactively develop plans to restore and maintain the operation of museums and relics after natural disasters, preserve the landscape and environment to be green, clean and beautiful to ensure good service for visitors./.
