Missile fired from Yemen sets off sirens in central Israel

According to The Times of Israel, air raid sirens sounded in Tel Aviv and across central Israel minutes before the rockets fell at around 6:35 a.m. local time, sending people running for cover.

“Following a siren sounding a short time ago in central Israel, a surface-to-surface missile crossed central Israel from the east and landed in an open area. There are no reports of casualties,” the Israeli military said in a statement.

Loud explosions were also heard in the area, and these sounds were coming from missile interceptors. The Israeli military said that the protection instructions for Israeli civilians have not changed.

Smoke rises from an open field in central Israel after a missile was launched from Yemen, but it is unclear whether the fire originated from the missile or from debris from the interceptor.

Meanwhile, the Houthi force announced on social network X on September 15 that its missile fell on Israel after 20 missiles failed to intercept it.

According to the Israeli military, 40 projectiles were fired towards Israel from Lebanon on the same day, September 15, and were intercepted or fell into open areas.

In July, Houthi forces in Yemen fired a long-range drone at Tel Aviv, killing one person and wounding four.

The attack prompted Israel to launch a major airstrike on Houthi military targets near Yemen's Hodeidah port, killing at least three people and wounding 87.
