Candidates who had problems taking the SAT test on the morning of March 8 will be refunded.

(Dan Tri) - On the morning of March 9, College Board representatives announced solutions for candidates who encountered problems during the SAT exam on March 8.


The latest announcement sent to Dan Tri reporters by the College Board - the organization that organizes the SAT exam - early on March 9 detailed the solutions to yesterday's incident.

Accordingly, all affected candidates will be refunded their test fees and a coupon to register for the SAT for free for the next test.

Candidates also have the option to cancel their test scores to retake the test or keep their test scores.

“Ultimately, the College Board will contact affected students with options for make-up testing, depending on availability at the test center where the student is registered,” a College Board communications representative said.

As Dan Tri reported, during the SAT exam in Hanoi on the morning of March 8, many candidates encountered problems when their test was automatically submitted even though they had not completed it. The test sites reported to have problems include: University of Science and Technology, National Economics University, Banking Academy, University of Natural Resources and Environment, 20 Thuy Khue.

The College Board said it was a technical issue with its Bluebook test-taking app.

SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) is an international standardized test that assesses mathematical ability, natural and social knowledge. Before Covid-19, this was a mandatory test for American and international students who wanted to apply to universities in the US.

The SAT is administered globally. The skills tested on the SAT include reading comprehension (52 questions, 65 minutes), language (44 questions, 35 minutes), and mathematics (58 questions, 80 minutes).

The SAT exam fee in Vietnam is 111 USD, equivalent to 2.8 million VND.

There are currently about 20 universities in Vietnam that use SAT test results for admission. The vast majority are in the fields of technology - engineering, economics - commerce and the military.
