According to the representative of the Examination and Quality Control Department - Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training, candidates compare their exam scores with the benchmark scores of the schools they have applied to to know if they have been admitted to their first, second or third choice. The admission principle is that candidates who pass their highest choice will not be considered for the remaining choices.
Once you know which school you are accepted to, you need to prepare documents confirming your admission to that school. High schools will start accepting applications from July 11 until 4pm on August 1. After this time, candidates who do not enroll will be removed from the admission list.

- The application form for junior high school graduation exam for the 2022-2023 school year and entrance exam for grade 10 high school for the 2023-2024 school year includes 3 wishes to enter high schools.
- Admission notice for grade 10 high school for the 2023-2024 school year, with 3 wishes listed.
- Junior high school transcript (original).
- Graduation certificate (temporary) issued by the educational institution, supplement the original when the Department of Education and Training issues the degree.
- A valid copy of birth certificate.
- Certificate of eligibility for preferential policies (if any) issued by a competent authority.
The 10th grade entrance exam for the 2023-2024 school year in Ho Chi Minh City took place on June 6-7 with nearly 96,000 candidates taking the exam.
The total enrollment target of 114 public high schools is 77,294. More than 18,000 candidates who fail to pass the public 10th grade entrance exam can study at private high schools, vocational education - continuing education centers or vocational colleges. These schools have an enrollment target of about 55,000, mainly considering academic records.
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training requires high school principals to only accept applications from students admitted to their schools according to the list approved by the Department.
The Department especially reminds students that they are absolutely not allowed to change their preferences after the announcement of admission results, specifically transferring schools after being admitted. The units do not accept applications nor process requests to change preferences.
