Unanimously choose Ngoc Hoi station as the main station in Hanoi

The Ministry of Transport has agreed to identify Ngoc Hoi station as the main railway station in Hanoi, with a maximum speed of 160km/h. This is also the station connecting the high-speed railway to the center of Hanoi.

The Ministry of Transport has just announced the conclusion of Deputy Minister Nguyen Danh Huy at the final reporting meeting on the planning of railway routes and stations in the Hanoi city hub area. The Hanoi city hub railway connects many important railway routes in the country, which have been studied and completed over many periods. Implementing Conclusion No. 49 of 2023 of the Politburo , the National Master Plan, the Ministry of Transport is reviewing the National Railway Network Planning, planning railway routes and stations in the Hanoi city hub area to serve as a basis for mobilizing resources to invest in a modern and synchronous railway system. Accordingly, the Ministry of Transport basically agreed on a number of main technical parameters as follows: Maximum speed V≥160km/h, axle load 22.5 tons/axle, usable length of future station lines ≥850m.

Regarding the solution to connect high-speed railway to the center of Hanoi, the leader of the Ministry of Transport emphasized that, in principle, high-speed railway needs to connect to the hub station to ensure convenient collection and clearance of passengers through other types of transport. Based on actual conditions, related plans unanimously propose Ngoc Hoi station as the hub station. Regarding the solution to organize train operations, to increase convenience for passengers, consultants are requested to study and research models in the world , forecast transportation demand; analyze and select the optimal train operation plan for each period. Regarding the plan to jointly exploit 1,435mm gauge national passenger trains with urban trains on the Yen Vien - Ngoc Hoi, Gia Lam - Lac Dao sections, the Deputy Minister of Transport requested coordination with relevant agencies of the Hanoi People's Committee to study on the principle of maximizing the efficiency of the invested urban railway infrastructure, creating convenience for passengers to move to the center. Regarding the adjustment of the railway development orientation on the Hanoi - Lang Son corridor, the leaders of the Ministry of Transport agreed to keep it as the approved railway network planning for the time being. The Vietnam Railway Authority will coordinate with technical support consultants to develop the Hanoi - Lang Son and Hai Phong - Ha Long - Mong Cai railway planning in the coming time to make appropriate proposals.
