Prime Minister as Head of National Steering Committee on Private Economic Development

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh has just signed Decision 1186 approving the list of members of the National Steering Committee to implement Resolution 68 of the Politburo on private economic development.

Accordingly, the Prime Minister is the head of the Steering Committee, the deputy heads include: Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Chi Dung (permanent deputy head) and Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang.

The list of members includes the names of leaders of the Central Policy and Strategy Committee, the Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Committee, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the National Assembly's Economic and Financial Committee, and deputy ministers of the following ministries: National Defense, Public Security, Finance, Justice, Agriculture and Environment, Science and Technology, Education and Training, Construction, Home Affairs, Culture, Sports and Tourism.

There were also leaders of the Government Office, State Bank, Government Inspectorate and chairmen of the People's Committees of Hanoi, Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Can Tho, Hue and Hai Phong.

Representatives from the business side included Chairman of the Vietnam Federation of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Pham Tan Cong; Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Small and Medium Enterprises Nguyen Van Than; Head of the Private Economic Development Research Board Truong Gia Binh.

The Steering Committee has the functions, tasks and powers to assist the Prime Minister in researching, advising, recommending and proposing directions and solutions to solve important, inter-sectoral issues on private economic development.

Assist the Prime Minister in directing and coordinating ministries, ministerial-level agencies, government agencies and relevant agencies and organizations in resolving important, inter-sectoral issues on private economic development.

The Steering Committee operates on the principles of centralization, democracy, and public discussion, ensuring unified direction and promoting the responsibility of the Head of the Steering Committee.

The Board will meet periodically every 3 months and hold extraordinary meetings according to the decision of the Head of the Steering Committee. In addition to direct meetings for discussion, the standing body of the Steering Committee is responsible for collecting written opinions from members, synthesizing, and reporting to the Head of the Steering Committee for consideration and decision.
