General Nguyen Chi Thanh was born on January 1, 1914 in Niem Pho village, Quang Tho commune, Quang Dien district, Thua Thien province (now Quang Dien commune, Hue city). He was admitted to the Indochinese Communist Party when he was just over 20 years old and was entrusted with many important responsibilities of the Party, State and army.
