On the evening of December 1, Vietnam Oil and Gas Group (Petrovietnam) and Vietnam Petroleum Technical Services Corporation ( PTSC ) organized a series of events on oil and gas and renewable energy at the Center for Energy Industry and Technical Logistics.

The event was attended by Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and leaders of central ministries, branches, leaders of Ba Ria - Vung Tau province and several localities.

The series of events includes the launching ceremony and handover of the offshore wind power jacket of the CHW2204 project; the signing ceremony of the contract for manufacturing and supplying offshore wind power jackets; the groundbreaking ceremony of transformer stations - Baltica 02 project; the groundbreaking ceremony of the CPP platform - Block B project; the signing ceremony of the FSO Lac Da Vang contract.

PTSC is currently the leading supplier of offshore wind power bases in Vietnam.

Faced with urgent demands to combat climate change and national commitments to achieving Net-zero, offshore wind power has emerged as one of the sectors with the greatest development potential.

Petrovietnam and some member units have focused on assessing and researching the issue of energy transition to adjust, catch up with trends, and make the most of strengths. In particular, orienting the trend of shifting to green and clean energy through increasing the proportion of gas, producing H2 and especially developing offshore wind power.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and central and local leaders witnessed the launching ceremony and handover of the offshore wind power base.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised Petrovietnam's achievements, especially in 2024, which have fueled the confidence and aspirations of oil and gas workers to overcome difficult times. The Prime Minister asked Petrovietnam's leaders to make greater efforts to complete assigned tasks.

At the same time, the locality as well as relevant ministries and branches are required to focus on developing expressways, coastal roads and connecting railways. The Prime Minister assigned Petrovietnam the task of further growth, developing offshore wind power, renewable energy, forming a Vietnamese energy group, and committed to implementing and producing products.

According to the Vietnam Oil and Gas Group, PTSC has shifted to the renewable energy sector, typically by bidding internationally, winning the contract to manufacture and supply 33 offshore wind power bases, Greater Changhua 2b&4 project (CHW2204) for customer Orsted (Denmark).

This is the first time Vietnam has had a large-value export contract in the very new field of offshore renewable energy.

Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and his delegation conducted a survey at PTSC.

Following the success, PTSC continued to bid and won the bid to supply wind power tower bases for an offshore wind power project (larger in scale than the CHW2204 project) of an international customer in the Asia-Pacific market.

In addition, PTSC has also begun the construction phase of four offshore transformer stations (OSS) for the Baltica 02 offshore wind power project in the Baltic Sea. The project has a total capacity of 2.5 GW, making it the largest offshore wind power project in the Baltic Sea and one of the largest wind power projects in the world.

The Block B – O Mon gas power project chain is a large-scale state-funded oil and gas project in Vietnam, with an expected gas production output of about 5.6 billion m3/year for 20 years. The project is expected to be handed over to customers in the second half of 2027 to support the goal of receiving the first gas flow by the end of 2027.
