With the importance of the match deciding the ticket to the final, coach Philippe Troussier brought back the starting lineup with familiar names such as: Goalkeeper Quan Van Chuan, Tuan Tai, Quang Thinh, Ngoc Thang, Duc Phu, Thai Son, Van Cuong, Minh Trong, Van Tung, Van Do and Thanh Nhan.

With the advantage of having one more day off, U22 Indonesia entered the match better, while the U22 Vietnam defense did not defend well in the situation where the opponent made a strong throw-in into the penalty area.

In the 10th minute, Komang Teguh scored a powerful header for U22 Indonesia. The early loss made U22 Vietnam a bit confused. However, coach Philippe Troussier's students quickly regained their composure to control the match. In the 35th minute, Van Tung equalized for the Golden Star Warriors thanks to a beautiful reverse header.

In the second half, U22 Indonesia once again took the lead thanks to an annoying throw-in tactic. Quan Van Chuan and his teammates struggled to clear the high ball but could not control the area in front of the penalty area, allowing the opponent to have a chance to shoot from afar, causing the U22 Vietnam goalkeeper to be unable to block it.

A few minutes later, U22 Indonesia had to play with one less player after Arhan received a second yellow card. With the advantage of playing with one more player, U22 Vietnam focused all their efforts on the attack, causing U22 Indonesia to make mistakes. Dinh Xuan Tien's close approach made Amiruddin Bagas fumble and kicked the ball straight into the goal, helping U22 Vietnam tie the score at 2-2.

However, once again, the weakness in defense made U22 Vietnam pay the price. In the 6th minute of extra time, Taufany Muslihuddin scored a dangerous long-range goal to seal the score 3-2 for U22 Indonesia.

With this result, U22 Indonesia won the right to play in the final match. And U22 Vietnam became the former SEA Games champion.
