The past year has seen many positive results with two startups, UCTalent and BINKS vegetable ink. For UCTalent, this is a talent introduction platform and recruitment field based on artificial intelligence AI Career Agent, contributing to changing the way of recruiting in the Web3 space, helping talents develop safely and effectively in a decentralized world .
Most recently, UCTalent was one of four teams from Vietnam participating in the final round of the Global Vietnamese Business Startup Competition - GVB Startup 2025 and UCTalent was awarded the Third Prize in mid-June.
Meanwhile, BINKS Vegetable Ink is an innovative startup project from students of the Vietnam-UK Institute for Research and Training (VNUK) and the University of Economics (University of Danang) that has just been honored at the 37th Management Grand Awards in Seoul, Korea in the category of Outstanding Scientific Research with Practical and Commercialization. BINKS is the group of students representing the Southeast Asian region to receive the award at this international honor ceremony.
The two successful projects emerged from the 2024 Danang SURF Innovation and Startup Competition, winning the first and second place respectively. This was also one of the first important “launching pads” for the two projects to achieve the above domestic and international results.
Accordingly, the SURF innovation startup competition is an important part of the Danang City SURF (Startup Runaway Festival) - an annual startup festival in Danang that has been held since 2016. Through the competition, startup projects are provided a platform to present their ideas, receive feedback from experts and connect with potential investors.
The SURF 2025 competition is being launched in early July with 30 participating teams. Projects participating in the competition have the opportunity to directly dialogue with investors, investment funds, and leading experts in the startup field.
The preliminary round will select 10/30 teams to move on to the final round. After the preliminary round, the teams will participate in training sessions on project writing skills, planning, project finance, etc.
The criteria for project selection are innovation, technology of products and services; ability to solve problems and meet market needs (usefulness); feasibility and sustainability of the business model; growth potential and market expansion (domestic and international); team, management and consulting capacity; marketing and communication plan; social and environmental impact (sustainability).
Mr. Nguyen Viet Toan, Director of the Danang Center for Supporting Innovative Startups (Department of Science and Technology), said that the SURF competition helps improve the capacity of entities in the startup ecosystem, connecting experts, investors and the startup community, while attracting attention and investment from domestic and foreign partners.
It can be seen that over the years, many projects coming out of the competition have achieved certain milestones such as UCTalent, BINKS Vegetable Ink, FiveSS E-commerce Platform, Vinseed Cordyceps... The SURF 2025 competition continues the achieved results, creating opportunities to orient the development of potential ideas and projects.
Danang Innovation and Startup Festival - SURF 2025 with the theme "Policy Launchpad - Nurturing Unicorns" and the message "Da Nang - City of Innovation and Creativity" organized by the Department of Science and Technology will take place on July 29 and 30. There will be an online and in-person international innovation and investment connection forum with speakers who are famous startups and businessmen; at the same time, there will be an exhibition on innovation and startup activities with 100 booths participating in person, awarding prizes for the SURF innovation and startup competition and many other activities.
