Since January 5, the Vietnamese team has been in Qatar to prepare for the 2023 Asian Cup. Here, coach Troussier's team will have a friendly match with Kyrgyzstan taking place at 8:00 p.m. tonight (January 9).

This is a worthy opponent for the "Golden Star Warriors" before the big battle. Kyrgyzstan is ranked 98th in the FIFA rankings, 4 places below the Vietnamese team. Recently, the Central Asian team has not played well, losing 7/10 recent matches.

Notably, Kyrgyzstan lost 3-4 to Malaysia in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers. However, they later won against a higher-rated opponent, Oman. Therefore, no one can predict the performance of this team.

In the past, Kyrgyzstan has never faced the Vietnamese team at the national team level. The team's playing style is somewhat similar to Uzbekistan, another team in Central Asia that has faced Vietnamese teams many times.

The match against Kyrgyzstan is the only test for the Vietnamese team in Qatar before the 2023 Asian Cup. Therefore, it is likely that Coach Troussier will take full advantage of the opportunity to test new faces.

The "Golden Dragons" entered the Asian tournament with a huge loss in terms of force when many pillars such as Tien Linh, Que Ngoc Hai, Van Lam... were injured. Therefore, coach Troussier gave opportunities to many young players.

The two teams Vietnam and Kyrgyzstan agreed to hold a friendly match in a closed stadium to ensure the secrecy of the gameplay. Therefore, this match will not be broadcast live to fans. In addition, the press will not be allowed to work, according to Dan Tri.
