Vietnam welcomes 12.23 million international visitors in 7 months

Favorable visa policies, tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have attracted an increasing number of international visitors to Vietnam.

According to the report of the General Statistics Office ( Ministry of Finance ), in July, international visitors to our country reached 1.56 million, up 6.8% over the previous month and up 35.7% over the same period last year. In the first 7 months of 2025, international visitors to Vietnam reached 12.23 million, up 22.5% over the same period last year.

Of which, international arrivals by air reached 10.4 million, accounting for 85.1% of international arrivals and increasing by 23.8% over the same period last year; by road reached 1.6 million, accounting for 13.4% and increasing by 15.8%; by sea reached 183,900, accounting for 1.5% and increasing by 11.1%.

The General Statistics Office leaders assessed that favorable visa and e-visa policies, enhanced tourism promotion programs, and activities to celebrate major national holidays have attracted increasing international visitors to Vietnam. The most sought-after destinations are Da Nang, Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Phu Quoc and Nha Trang, cities famous for their rich tourism ecosystems, diverse accommodation services and unique entertainment activities.

Also according to the report of the General Statistics Office, the positive growth of trade and tourism activities has impacted the total retail sales of goods and consumer service revenue in the first 7 months of 2025 to increase by 9.3% over the same period last year, of which: Revenue from accommodation and food services increased by 15% and revenue from tourism and travel increased by 20%.

Specifically, revenue from accommodation and catering services in the first 7 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 481,900 billion, up 15% over the same period last year. Revenue in the first 7 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year of some localities is as follows: Ho Chi Minh City increased by 19.7%; Da Nang increased by 18.6%; Can Tho increased by 14.8%; Hanoi increased by 12%; Hai Phong increased by 11%.

In addition, tourism revenue in the first 7 months of 2025 is estimated at VND 52,800 billion, up 20% over the same period last year. Revenue in the first 7 months of 2025 compared to the same period last year of some localities is as follows: Dong Nai increased by 31.5%; Lao Cai increased by 28.4%; Ho Chi Minh City increased by 23.4%; Hue increased by 22.6%; Hanoi increased by 18.8%.
