According to Al Jazeera on August 5, when asked about the information that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu had decided to occupy the entire Gaza Strip, President Trump said that he was only focusing on "providing food to the people" in Gaza.
"I really can't say. It depends largely on Israel," Mr. Trump told reporters.
President Trump also recalled that the US recently provided $60 million in aid to Gaza to provide food for people in the strip.

In addition, Washington provides Israel with billions of dollars in military aid every year, which increased significantly after Israel began its war in Gaza in October 2023.
Earlier, on August 4, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedly told his ministers that he would seek cabinet support for his plan to take control of the entire Gaza Strip, despite opposition from the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).

Netanyahu's plan raises concerns about the safety of the remaining Israeli hostages being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
Meanwhile, senior UN official Miroslav Jenca said on August 5 that a complete occupation of Gaza would "have catastrophic consequences".
"International law is very clear on this issue. Gaza will always be an integral part of the future State of Palestine," Miroslav Jenca told the UN Security Council.
Currently, the IDF claims to control about 75% of Gaza. Under the new plan, the Army plans to occupy the remaining area, bringing the entire enclave under Israeli control.
