After making an official offer, Liverpool have yet to raise their price for Isak. |
The Liverpool Echo quoted Gonzalo Gaitan, one of Isak's representatives, as saying: "We are studying and analysing the options, what I can reveal is that we are close to finalising the next step for the player."
Isak is represented by Universal Twenty Two, with Gonzalo Gaitan as one of the company's key members. Universal Twenty Two's comments come amid rumours that Isak and Liverpool have agreed personal terms on a five-year contract, paving the way for the Premier League champions to make a bid for the striker to Newcastle.
Gonzalo Gaitan and his associates are said to have travelled to Liverpool for talks this week. According to The Times , Isak's representatives were even present at Anfield to watch Liverpool's two friendlies against Athletic Bilbao on August 4.
Isak returned to training with Newcastle earlier this week, having refused to join the pre-season tour of Asia. Relations between the Swede and the rest of the squad deteriorated after the striker expressed his desire to leave.
Isak's actions have caused division within the club. Currently, the Isak deal has not made any major progress, when Liverpool made an offer worth up to 145 million euros but Newcastle still flatly refused. However, with Gonzalo Gaitan's confident statement, this deal could witness a turning point.
