(PLVN) - On September 13, at the headquarters of the General Department of Customs, the General Department of Customs Trade Union held a ceremony to mobilize cadres, civil servants, public employees, and workers to support people affected by storm No. 3 (storm Yagi ).

Attending the launching ceremony were Director General of the General Department of Customs Nguyen Van Tho; Deputy Directors General of the General Department of Customs: Luu Manh Tuong, Dinh Ngoc Thang, Tran Duc Hung, Au Anh Tuan and nearly 400 officials, civil servants, public employees and workers from 18 units of the General Department representing nearly 2,000 union members of the General Department of Customs Union.

Storm No. 3 has made landfall in the Northern provinces and the Northern mountainous region with super strong winds, the storm has caused great destruction, the storm circulation has continuously caused heavy to very heavy rains causing floods and landslides over a large area. The storm has caused and is causing heavy damage to people, property of the people and state works. Especially in the provinces: Lao Cai, Yen Bai , Cao Bang, Thai Nguyen suffered flash floods and heavy flooding, Phu Tho had Phong Chau bridge collapse causing great damage to people's lives and property.

At the launching ceremony, Deputy Director General of the General Department of Customs Luu Manh Tuong, Chairman of the General Department of Customs Trade Union emphasized that in response to the call of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front , promoting the tradition of solidarity, with the spirit of "mutual love and support", "the healthy leaves cover the torn leaves", the General Department of Customs has called on all cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers to support and share difficulties with the people to soon overcome the damage and stabilize their lives. The total amount of money directly donated and 1 day's salary of cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers at the General Department of Customs is 859,020,000 VND.

The General Department of Customs Trade Union transferred 200,000,000 VND to the Ministry of Finance Trade Union to transfer to the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front. The remaining amount of donated money will be directly donated by the General Department of Customs Trade Union to the affected localities to support people to overcome the consequences of rain and floods, quickly overcome difficulties, stabilize life and restore production.
