Summary of Summer activities, Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024 and commendation of the "Outstanding Young Teacher" Award at the city level
(Haiphong.gov.vn) - On the morning of November 5, Hai Phong City Youth Union organized a program to summarize Summer activities; Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign 2024; commend the "Outstanding Young Teacher" Award at the city level for the 2023-2024 school year; launch the Hai Phong City Youth and Children's Creativity Contest 2024-2025 and award the 6th City-level English Olympic Contest for students in 2024.
Attending the event were comrades: Le Khac Nam, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee, Head of the City Summer Steering Committee 2024; Ho Hong Nguyen, Head of the Central Youth Union's School Youth Committee, Permanent Vice President of the Central Vietnam Student Association and representatives of leaders of the city's Departments, branches, sectors and unions.
Over the years, the Summer activities and the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign of Hai Phong children have always received special attention and priority from the City Party Committee, People's Council, People's Committee, Party committees at all levels, authorities, sectors, unions, and social organizations in the city. With the theme "Safe summer fun - Learning thousands of good things", the Summer activities in 2024 have attracted more than 75% of children and youth to participate. The activities of the sectors that are members of the City Summer Steering Committee have well implemented the motto of focusing on the grassroots level, the quality of activities has been improved, the organization forms are diverse, attractive, safe, and healthy. The whole city has organized activities to visit and present 1,812 gifts worth over 1.2 billion VND to families with meritorious services to the revolution, families with preferential policies, organized over 15 medical examination and health consultation programs, with medicine and gifts worth over 400 million VND; 165/165 temples, memorials, and martyr cemeteries take care of and repair martyr cemeteries and organize candle lighting to pay tribute to heroic martyrs.
At the program, the City People's Committee awarded the Flag of the City Summer Steering Committee to 18 Summer Steering Committees of member districts, towns and sectors; 09 collectives and 08 individuals with outstanding achievements in the Summer activities in 2024 received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee.
In parallel with the Summer activities, the City Youth Union at all levels actively implemented the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign according to 05 programs and branch campaigns with 88 "Supporting the Exam Season" volunteer teams, 20 "Green Summer" volunteer teams, 72 "Red Flamboyant" volunteer teams, 19 "Pink Vacation" volunteer teams and 20 "Green March" volunteer teams; over 400,000 young volunteers participated in the teams. With great efforts and determination, the City Youth Union, Association and Youth Union members at all levels completed a volunteer campaign season with impressive results with 11/11 campaign targets completed and exceeded.
At the program, 06 collectives and 14 individuals with outstanding achievements in the 2024 Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign received Certificates of Merit from the Chairman of the City People's Committee; 06 units received the Leading Excellent Emulation Flag from the Standing Committee of the City Youth Union.
Speaking at the program, Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Khac Nam emphasized that the Summer activities have truly become a useful and interesting playground, an environment for young people to practice, learn, contribute and mature, contributing to educating ethics and lifestyle, perfecting the personality of young people, affirming the special attention of the whole society for the young generation.
To continue promoting the achieved results and overcome the limitations, in the coming time, the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee requested that the branches and members of the Summer Steering Committee at all levels and the City Youth Union need to organize experience sharing, proactively overcome the limitations and promote the positive aspects in the activities of the past years, based on the needs and legitimate aspirations of young people to build and organize innovative, diverse, practical and useful activities for the city's youth. Proactively advise and propose and seek the support of the Party Committee and the authorities at the same level to create favorable conditions for the effective organization of Summer activities and the Summer Youth Volunteer Campaign. Educational units need to closely coordinate with residential areas in monitoring the number of students participating in summer activities at their place of residence. Strengthen coordination with city departments, agencies, and socio-economic organizations to create favorable conditions for summer activities and volunteer activities to take place effectively and safely.
The Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee also requested Party committees at all levels, authorities, member sectors of the City Summer Steering Committee, Summer Steering Committees at all levels, sectors, localities and mass organizations to uphold their sense of responsibility, continue to care, help, and create favorable conditions in spirit and material for the activities of the city's youth.
Within the framework of the program, the "Outstanding Young Teacher" award was presented at the city level for the 2023-2024 school year. The "Outstanding Young Teacher" award is an award that is reviewed based on professional standards and movement activities, and is awarded every two years. This year's award was presented to 33 outstanding individuals. Thereby, not only honoring the contributions of outstanding young teachers, but also expressing gratitude to those who are working in the education sector and nurturing the passion and dream of becoming a teacher for students, becoming people's teachers. This is also a practical activity towards the 42nd anniversary of Vietnamese Teachers' Day (November 20, 1982 - November 20, 2024).
Also in the summer of 2024, the City Youth Union - City Student Association organized the 6th City English Olympiad for students in 2024. At the student table, the contestants competed in the form of the 2024 United Nations Model Conference with the theme "Preserving cultural assets of countries in the context of conflict". At the student table, the contestants presented on the culture of countries in the Southeast Asian region. At the program, the Organizing Committee awarded 02 First prizes, 06 Second prizes, 06 Third prizes and 09 Consolation prizes to the contestants.
On this occasion, Hai Phong City Youth Union - the Standing Unit of the City's Youth and Children's Creativity Contest pressed the button to launch the Hai Phong City Youth and Children's Creativity Contest for the 2024 - 2025 school year.
