President Putin could get more than 80% of the vote in the election

According to the forecast of VTsIOM conducted at the request of the Institute of Social Research Experts (EISRI), incumbent President Vladimir Putin may receive more than 80% of the votes in the upcoming presidential election.

The estimated voter turnout in the upcoming Russian presidential election is 71%. Of these, Putin could receive 82% of the votes ,” VTsIOM points out.

Meanwhile, the support rate for other candidates such as Mr. Nikolai Kharitonov (Communist Party of Russia - KPRF) is forecast to be 6%, Mr. Vladislav Davankov (New People's Party) - 6% and Mr. Leonid Slutsky (Liberal Democratic Party - LDPR) - 5%.

In addition, according to another forecast by the Public Opinion Foundation (FOM), President Putin could receive 80% of the votes, followed by Mr. Kharitonov (5.7%), Slutsky (5.6%) and Mr. Davankov (4.6%). Voter turnout, according to FOM, will be 69.8%. This survey was conducted on March 4-6 with 1,500 people.

It is known that the forecast results, including data on voter turnout and the number of votes for candidates, are based on parameters that take into account information about the election, voters' interest in the election, voting motivations and various other circumstances.

According to the Russian presidential election law, it is forbidden to publish opinion polls related to the presidential election within 5 days before the final voting day and on the election day itself. The Central Election Commission of Russia announced that the upcoming Russian presidential election will take place from March 15-17, which will be the first time that the election will be held over 3 days. Online voting will take place in 29 regions across the country.

More than 3 million Russian voters will vote in the presidential election not according to their electoral registration area, but using the “Mobile Voter” service on the “State Services” portal, the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation said.

Previously, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed confidence that Mr. Putin would win the 2024 Russian presidential election.

Mr. Putin became President of Russia in 2000, holding this position for 8 years. He served as Prime Minister of Russia from 2008 to 2012. He continued to win the Russian presidential elections in 2012 and 2018 and has held this position until now. Russian President Putin's current term will end on May 7, 2024.
