President Trump cuts Biden's access to classified information in retaliation

US President Donald Trump has revoked his predecessor Joe Biden's security clearances and intelligence updates, in retaliation for what Biden himself did to him.

According to the AP news agency, President Trump announced on social media on February 7 that former President Biden will no longer need to continue receiving classified information and that the right will be revoked immediately. According to Reuters, presidents often receive some intelligence reports even after leaving office.

"I will always protect our national security. Joe, you are fired. Make America great again," Trump wrote.

In 2021, shortly after taking office, Mr. Biden told CBS News that he did not believe Mr. Trump should have access to intelligence briefings because of his “erratic behavior” and concerns that his predecessor might share information. In a February 7 post, Mr. Trump accused Mr. Biden of setting that precedent by instructing the intelligence community to block him from accessing national security information.

The current president said he could not trust Biden with intelligence reports because the special prosecutor had said the former president had a poor memory.

In 2024, special prosecutor Robert Hur released a report describing Mr. Biden as “a kind, elderly man with a poor memory.” At the time, Mr. Biden insisted that his memory was fine.

In 2024, Mr. Hur also said that Mr. Biden would not be prosecuted for knowingly carrying classified documents when his term as vice president ended in 2017. Mr. Biden declared the above allegation completely false.

After taking office, President Trump also stripped the protections of former government officials who had criticized him, including former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Mark Milley and Dr. Anthony Fauci.
