Recently, US President Donald Trump signed an executive order expanding the activities of the Presidential Council on Sports and Nutrition, applicable to the US public school system.
The highlight of the order is the official reinstatement of a physical fitness test that was once widely used in the US public school system.
This test will assess students' physical fitness through motor coordination results including endurance running test, sit-ups, stretching exercises...

The new decree was signed by Mr. Trump in the context that the US is preparing to host a series of major international sporting events, most notably the 2026 World Cup (co-hosted) and the 2028 Olympics.
The first executive order officially introducing physical fitness testing into the US public school system was signed by former US President Lyndon B. Johnson in 1966.
“From the late 1950s until 2013, students across America competed in this program. It’s a wonderful tradition, and now we’re bringing it back to our schools,” Trump said.
When the US government brings back physical fitness testing to the public school system, American students will be encouraged to participate in physical activities and sports competitions in school. Students who excel in physical training and sports will be rewarded.
The program will be implemented by Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
Under former US President Barack Obama, the physical fitness test was canceled in 2012. Another program was introduced to replace it with a focus on improving personal health and reducing the level of competition in physical education and sports among students.
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told the US media: “President Donald Trump hopes that American youth will have the opportunity to practice a healthy, active lifestyle and build a school culture that promotes physical strength and outstanding excellence.”
The White House hopes that bringing physical fitness testing back into the school system will help the United States address the problems it is facing, related to the declining physical condition of teenagers in particular and Americans in general.
To implement the new decree, the Presidential Council will work with professional athletes, sports organizations, and influential figures. The Council currently has 30 members. The Council will then set specific criteria for awarding students with outstanding physical training achievements.
US President Donald Trump is also a big fan of sports. He played baseball and golf regularly in high school. He still plays golf whenever he has time.
Talking about the reason why he loves sports, Mr. Trump once analyzed: "I love sports and play some sports well. When you really focus while playing sports, you will not think about anything else.
That's also part of the reason I like playing sports, I get a few hours to really let my mind rest."
