The Pucara bull sculpture exhibition includes 19 handmade ceramic art works, with unique designs and decorations, high aesthetic value, reflecting the creativity and talented craftsmanship of Peruvian ceramic artisans.

The works on display this time are part of a cultural promotion project initiated by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called “Traveling Exhibition Pucará the Bull - the Messenger of the Peruvian Highlands”.

Since last year, the exhibition series has been extended to many countries around the world, introducing international friends to the rich heritage of the southern highlands of Peru through a collection of more than 500 ceramic bull sculptures, crafted by skilled artisans who are continuing the journey of preserving this traditional ceramic art.

This exhibition, with the support and contribution of two famous artists to the Peru - Vietnam Cultural Exchange Project: artist Le Huy and artist Tran Anh Tuan, also brings to the capital's public the opportunity to admire Pucara bull statues crafted and applied with the typical techniques of traditional Vietnamese painting.

According to Mr. Augusto Morelli Salgado, Peruvian Ambassador to Vietnam, the participation of Vietnamese artists in the cultural project implemented by the Peruvian Ministry of Foreign Affairs is of great significance.

Through this, people of the two countries can have a deeper understanding of the beauty of each side's folk culture, contributing to increasing understanding and connecting friendship between the two geographically distant countries.

Within the framework of the exhibition, the Embassy of Peru in collaboration with Puppets Studio Art Workshop organizes the Pucara bull statue decoration workshop "Lucky Wish - Make your own amule" on two weekends, from September 16-17, from 9AM-6PM, completely free of charge with limited quantity.

The Pucará bull statue is one of the quintessence and symbols of Peruvian handmade pottery, created by the skillful hands of artisans of the handmade pottery village in Checca Pupuja, Jose Domingo Choquehuenca district, Azangaro province, Puno region (southern Peru).

Inspired by the ancient folk rituals of sacrificing bulls to the gods, developed over centuries of Spanish rule, the indigenous peoples skillfully recreated the image of colorfully painted and decorated bulls in the form of ceramic statues and placed them on the roof or in the room as a lucky mascot, bringing safety, strength, abundance and prosperity to households.
