Báo Dân tríBáo Dân trí07/01/2025

(Dan Tri) - From March 30, all IELTS exams in Vietnam will stop taking paper-based exams and switch to computer-based exams. The information was released by the British Council today (January 7).

Accordingly, after March 29, the IELTS exam in Vietnam will be completely switched to computer-based testing. Candidates can register 1-2 days before the exam and on any day of the week.

Candidates who have registered for the paper-based IELTS test after March 29 will be contacted by the test center to inform them of alternative options, including: free conversion to computer-based IELTS; free conversion to an earlier paper-based IELTS test date or a full refund of the test fee.

According to the British Council, computer-based testing is in line with current trends, creating a more professional testing environment, helping candidates easily arrange suitable time, saving waiting time, and providing timely support for study, work, and settlement plans.

The computer-based test will be exactly the same as the paper-based test in all four skills (listening, speaking, reading, writing) of the test, ensuring fairness and standards.

In addition, in just about 2 days, candidates will receive the results.

In particular, when taking the test on a computer, candidates can retake any skill - listening, speaking, reading, or writing - to improve their score, reducing costs and time compared to retaking the entire test.

IELTS is the world's most popular English language proficiency test for higher education and global migration. More than 12,500 organisations worldwide use IELTS, including educational institutions, employers, governments...

More than 11,000 companies, organizations, and universities around the world now recognize this exam.

For many countries like Australia, UK, New Zealand, IELTS becomes a mandatory requirement and IELTS score is a significant plus point to become a citizen of their country.

Previously, some IELTS co-organizers in Malaysia and Thailand also stopped offering paper-based IELTS tests nationwide or only for certain subjects from March 2024.

The above changes are made to enhance, ensure operational efficiency and test administration appropriate to the circumstances in these countries.
