On the afternoon of July 14, the Vietnamese women's team entered the second training session of the July training session in Hanoi to prepare for the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship. Due to Nguyen Thi Thanh Nha's injury and having to practice separately, the team's current number of players is 27.

After the 2026 Asian Women's Cup qualifiers, the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship is an important campaign before the Vietnamese women's team aims to defend the gold medal in women's football at the 33rd SEA Games at the end of the year.

The Vietnamese women's team is still the same group that competed in the recent Asian qualifiers, plus some other faces.

Notably, there is young center back Le Thi Bao Tram, former captain of the Vietnam U20 women's team. This is the first time Bao Tram has participated in the national team after impressive performances in domestic tournaments in recent years for Vietnam Coal and Minerals.

Or center-back Tran Thi Hai Linh, who returned to the Vietnamese women's team after a period of absence. Hai Linh is a promising face of the Vietnamese women's defense in the process of generational transition. She was given the opportunity by coach Mai Duc Chung to play in the 2023 Women's World Cup. "The goal of winning the Southeast Asian Women's Championship this year will be more difficult because all teams have naturalized players," Linh shared.

On the attack line, Huynh Nhu still has a great influence. Although her physical strength has declined due to age, Nhu's playing experience still brings a lot of value to the team.

The goal of the Vietnamese women's team in this training session is to improve physical strength and combine technical and tactical skills.

The Vietnamese women's team will train at the Youth Football Training Center (VYF) for 1 week. From July 20, the team will go to Cam Pha (Quang Ninh) for 10 days of training before stationing in Hai Phong , the venue for Group A matches of the 2025 Southeast Asian Women's Championship.

Since 2019, coach Mai Duc Chung and his team have not been able to win the regional championship for the fourth time. In the most recent tournament in 2022, the Philippines was the defending champion with a squad of quality naturalized players.
