Vietnam U.23 had an important match with Jordan U.23 to test their strength before the 2024 AFC U.23 Championship finals at 9:00 p.m. on April 10 (local time), or 1:00 a.m. on April 11, Vietnam time. This was a closed friendly match according to an agreement between the two teams to keep tactics and tactics confidential as the group stage matches were approaching.

The two teams drew 0-0 in the official 90 minutes, with a tight game. U.23 Vietnam tried to develop the ball from home, coordinated smoothly in the midfield, but the attacks lacked sharpness against the U.23 Jordan defense. On the other hand, the muscular, aerial play of the young team, the current Asian Cup runner-up, could not trouble the disciplined defense of coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team.

Due to the friendly nature, both U.23 Vietnam and U.23 Jordan did not give their all, but kept their composure. In the penalty shootout, U.23 Vietnam lost 3-4 to U.23 Jordan.

This is a competition mainly to help the two teams test the ability of each player and have the best feeling for the ball as the tournament is approaching.

After the friendly match with U.23 Jordan, U.23 Vietnam will have 5 more days of training to strengthen their playing style before entering the opening match against U.23 Kuwait, taking place on April 17. Then there will be matches against U.23 Uzbekistan (April 20) and the final match of the group stage against U.23 Malaysia on April 23.

The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) did not assign targets to the U.23 Vietnam team. However, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his players set themselves the goal of passing the group stage, then they will calculate further. The advantage for the team is that the opponents U.23 Kuwait and U.23 Malaysia are both of equal strength. These two teams did not have as good results in the U.23 Asian Cup as the U.23 Vietnam team before.

In recent days, coach Hoang Anh Tuan has divided his players into teams to practice against each other to select the best players for each position. "We are excited to adapt to the conditions in Qatar to prepare for the 2024 AFC U23 Championship. The whole team is ready and working hard every day towards the tournament," midfielder Nguyen Thai Son shared.

U.23 Vietnam has a useful practice match in Qatar

Qatar is 4 hours behind Vietnam. This forces the players to adjust their daily routines due to changes in their biological rhythms. However, U.23 Vietnam has adapted very quickly to the conditions here. Good facilities, accommodation and training conditions all meeting "5-star" standards in Qatar have contributed to creating an exciting atmosphere for the whole team.

"I understand the expectations from fans for U.23 Vietnam. Not only me but certainly the whole team will always try their best, play their best for the flag. The immediate goal of the whole team is to strive to get the best results in each match, to first pass the group stage, then the further goals will come", Thai Son affirmed.
