After the U23 Southeast Asian tournament, the U23 Vietnam and U23 Indonesia teams can meet again at the 33rd SEA Games, taking place in December this year in Thailand.
The Indonesian U23 team could be very different then. The young team of the archipelago country still has many naturalized players and many stars of the age group allowed to participate in the SEA Games.
Notably, this number includes Dutch-born center-back Justin Hubner (22 years old), Dutch-born striker Rafael Struick (22 years old), and talented midfielder Marselino Ferdinan (21 years old). These are all players who have played for the Indonesian national team. They will not participate in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament.
If these players are added for SEA Games 33, the Indonesian U23 team may have very different quality.

Regarding naturalized striker Jens Raven (of Dutch origin), who appeared at the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament, CNN Indonesia expressed dissatisfaction: "The opportunity for U23 Indonesia to score in the final match of the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 tournament belonged to Jens Raven."

The race between the U23 Indonesia and U23 Vietnam teams at the Southeast Asian Games this coming December is predicted to be very tense.
