On February 1, the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan commune (Buon Ma Thuot city, Dak Lak province) organized the handover of grandson NTP (5 years old) to Mrs. BAN (49 years old, residing in Tan Lap ward, Buon Ma Thuot city).
Before handing over the baby, Buon Ma Thuot City People's Committee fined Ms. BAN 20 million VND for intentionally abandoning the child.
Previously, on October 10, 2023, Ms. N. intentionally abandoned her child P. on a road in Hoa Xuan commune. Afterwards, people brought P. to the People's Committee of Hoa Xuan commune.

The People's Committee of the commune assigned P. to Ms. TTL (Chairwoman of the Commune Women's Union) to take care of her until her relatives could be found.
Some time later, Ms. N. went to Hoa Xuan commune to declare that she was P.'s mother and wanted to take her child back. Ms. N. said that in 2019, she picked up P. at a bus station in Dak Lak province and brought her to Tay Ninh province to raise.
Due to lack of knowledge, Ms. N. did not declare or complete birth registration procedures for P. When she came to live in Dak Lak, Ms. N. could not complete birth registration procedures and related documents for P. Therefore, on October 10, 2023, Ms. N. intentionally abandoned P. in order to re-perform adoption procedures.
After receiving her child back, Ms. N. pledged not to repeat similar behavior and promised to provide the best conditions to care for and raise her child.
