Vietnam ranks among the world's top countries on the AI Index

According to the results published in the World AI Index, Vietnam made its mark by ranking 6th out of 40 countries in the world , scoring 59.2 points on a scale of 100.

This index was conducted by WIN (Worldwide Independent Network of Market Research) to measure the level of awareness, use, trust and concern of people in 40 countries on 5 continents (Asia, Europe, America, Africa and Oceania) towards artificial intelligence.

Vietnam's overall index is calculated based on the average of 7 AI-related component indices.

According to the report, Vietnam stands out thanks to a dynamic urban population that is open, interested, and confident in new technologies. Notably, Vietnam has surpassed many developed countries in terms of interest and positive attitudes towards AI.

Vietnam also ranked 3rd globally in terms of Trust (65.6 points) and 5th in terms of AI acceptance (71.6 points). The indexes of interest, comfort in using and perceived usefulness of Vietnamese people in AI also exceeded the global average.

These are clear signs that trust in digital technology is growing stronger in Vietnamese society, helping to consolidate the country's position in the top 10 leading countries.

According to the Report, the AI user group is mainly young people from 18 to 34 years old, especially those living in two major urban centers, Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi.

Meanwhile, people in Da Nang and Can Tho have significantly lower AI usage rates, reflecting the disparity in technology access between central cities and secondary regions.

Usage rates are calculated based on the number of people in each age group and city who reported having used AI.

Among the youngest age groups surveyed (18-24 years old), about 9 in 10 people in Hanoi (89%) and Ho Chi Minh City (87%) said they had actively used AI technology. Notably, the lowest usage rate was recorded among people aged 55-64 living in Da Nang, with only 1 in 10 having had experience with AI.

In general, AI usage declines with age. Older people are less interested in and therefore less familiar with these technologies. This is a common trend not only in Vietnam but also in many other countries.

The increasing presence of AI in everyday life also raises many questions for people. Even in countries with an open attitude towards AI like Vietnam, many people are still concerned about the negative impacts of this technology on individuals and society.

In Vietnam, as in other Asia-Pacific countries, data privacy is the biggest concern, with 52% of those surveyed in the Report expressing concern about how AI collects and uses personal data.

The above figure reflects the proportion of people who chose a level of concern of 7 or more on a scale of 10.

Next is the fear that AI could replace humans in their jobs, shared by 48% of survey respondents. This is a common concern in both developing and developed countries.

Notably, while concerns about misinformation (deepfake, public opinion manipulation) are considered a top concern in many developed countries, in Vietnam, only 36% of respondents expressed concern about this issue - the lowest level of concern for Vietnamese people.

This difference reflects a clear difference in perception between Vietnamese people and people in European or American countries, where concerns about misinformation are often top of mind./.
