Vietnam-Uruguay strengthen cooperation, promote multilateral links

During her working trip to Uruguay from July 31 to August 2, Vietnamese Ambassador to Argentina and Uruguay, Ms. Ngo Minh Nguyet, had a working session with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Uruguay, Minister of Labor and Social Security Juan Castillo and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valeria Csukasi.

During the working session with Mr. Juan Castillo, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet respectfully invited the delegation of the ruling coalition of the Broad Front (FA) and the Communist Party of Uruguay to attend the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the successful August Revolution (August 19, 1945 - August 19, 2025) and the National Day of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam (September 2, 1945 - September 2, 2025).

Mr. Juan Castillo affirmed the stature, historical significance and contemporary value of the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, opening a new era for the Vietnamese people, and highly appreciated the political , economic and social achievements that the Vietnamese people have achieved over the past 8 decades, especially the country's remarkable development in 40 years of implementing the Doi Moi process.

The two sides also affirmed their determination to promote and further strengthen the good cooperative relationship between the Communist Party of Vietnam and the Communist Party of Uruguay and the left-wing Broad Front (FA), contributing to the development of relations between the two countries.

At the working session with Deputy Foreign Minister Valeria Csukasi, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet expressed her hope that the two sides would continue to promote delegation exchanges, as well as strengthen close coordination, effective cooperation and mutual support at multilateral and regional forums such as the United Nations, the Southern Common Market (MERCOSUR), the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP), especially to soon start negotiations on a trade agreement between MERCOSUR and Vietnam.

Deputy Minister Valeria Csukasi said she will visit Vietnam in mid-August and attend the 5th Political Consultation between the two Foreign Ministries, aiming to enhance the effectiveness of cooperation between the two countries.

During the working trip, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet also attended and delivered a speech at the Advanced Political Theory course of the Communist Party of Uruguay on Vietnam's socio-economic development achievements and foreign policy in recent years.

The delegates attending the course, including many young Party members, were particularly interested in the political, economic, cultural and social situation of Vietnam and asked many questions to better understand our country's Renovation process with a socialist-oriented market economy.

Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet expressed her hope that the two sides will continue to promote delegation exchange activities, as well as strengthen close coordination, effective cooperation and mutual support at multilateral and regional forums.

On this occasion, Ambassador Ngo Minh Nguyet also surveyed the implementation of the construction of the Vietnam space on Jose Pedro Valera Avenue, in the capital city of Montevideo, in front of the Antel Arena National Convention Center, the most modern convention center in Uruguay.

The Montevideo City Government hopes that, with the Vietnamese space, the Uruguayan people and international friends will always remember the great President Ho Chi Minh, the leader of the Vietnamese people. On his journey to find a way to save the country in 1912, President Ho Chi Minh visited Uruguay.
