The United States continued to witness unhappy events on New Year's Day after a Tesla Cybertruck suddenly exploded outside a hotel of US President-elect Donald Trump in Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, killing one person.
Las Vegas police said the incident happened just outside the Trump International Hotel when the Cybertruck suddenly caught fire and caused an explosion that looked like fireworks. At least one person in the car was killed and seven others suffered minor injuries.
The entire hotel has been evacuated and authorities have also deployed all other necessary measures to ensure the safety of residents.
Shortly after the incident, Tesla boss Elon Musk said the explosion was caused by a large amount of fireworks or a bomb placed in the trunk of the Cybertruck. He also confirmed that the explosion was not due to a defect in the vehicle.
Meanwhile, the White House announced that President Joe Biden had been informed of the incident and directed the deployment of necessary support to the locality. Currently, US authorities are still investigating the cause of the explosion.
