The auction of two fish raised in Hoa Binh Lake is one of the impressive highlights at the first Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh Province and the Agricultural Fair and Exhibition of products in the One Commune One Product (OCOP) Program in the Northern Midlands and Mountains in 2023.
This is an event organized by the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province in coordination with the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, opening on the evening of October 27, in Hoa Binh city (Hoa Binh province), lasting until October 29.
Secretary of Hoa Binh Provincial Party Committee Nguyen Phi Long visited the booth with a black carp successfully auctioned with the highest price of 65 million VND.
Mr. Dinh Cong Su, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province, said that this is the first time the locality has organized the Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh province to introduce the rich aquatic resources raised and exploited from Hoa Binh lake.
The festival is also an event for people and businesses to promote and affirm the specialty brands "Hoa Binh Da River Shrimp" and "Hoa Binh Da River Fish", which have been certified by the Department of Intellectual Property (Ministry of Science and Technology).
Many fish raised in Hoa Binh lake have reached large weights, attracting many visitors to come and take pictures.
According to Mr. Dinh Cong Su, aquaculture is an industry that contributes a high proportion to the agricultural structure of Hoa Binh province, mainly fish cage farming on the Da River. Currently, Hoa Binh has 2,700 hectares of water surface area with 4,940 fish cages, with an estimated harvest output of 9,210 tons.
This locality has attracted many large enterprises to invest in developing aquaculture and processing of aquatic products. Specialty products of fish and shrimp from the Da River are creating a large source of income for the people and the budget of Hoa Binh province.
The festival has many booths introducing special dishes made from fish raised in the Da River reservoir.
At the opening ceremony of the festival, the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province organized an auction of two black carp and red-tailed catfish raised by businesses in Hoa Binh lake.
Of which, a 30 kg black carp of Hai Dang Seafood Company Limited had a starting price of 25 million VND. After many rounds of bargaining, this fish was purchased by a business in Hanoi with the highest price of 65 million VND.
Many booths have professional chefs preparing fish dishes for visitors to enjoy on the spot.
The 20 kg red-tailed catfish of Cuong Thinh Construction and Service Company Limited had a starting price of 20 million VND, but at the end of the auction it was successfully sold for 50 million VND.
According to the People's Committee of Hoa Binh province, the entire amount of 115 million VND from the auction will be used to buy fish fry to release into Hoa Binh lake, regenerating aquatic resources.
The first Da River Fish and Shrimp Festival in Hoa Binh province and the Agricultural Fair and Exhibition of OCOP products of 10 northern midland and mountainous provinces in 2023 have a scale of nearly 200 booths.
Of which, Hoa Binh has 121 booths with 20 booths displaying Da River fish and shrimp products. Enterprises and cooperatives mainly display 3 main product lines: fresh fish, fish fillet products and deep-processed fish products.
