ABBANK and Maybank strengthen strategic cooperation

DNVN - Recently in Hanoi , An Binh Commercial Joint Stock Bank (ABBANK) and strategic shareholder Malayan Banking Berhad (Maybank) signed a memorandum of understanding to strengthen strategic cooperation for the benefit of both parties, focusing on supporting ABBANK's transformation and capacity building initiatives.

The content of the memorandum of understanding agrees on the principles for the parties to cooperate in developing and implementing consulting projects to improve the operational efficiency of ABBANK, especially during the transition period, including but not limited to the following areas: SME banking; retail banking; digitalization and other areas suitable for the business operations of the two parties.

During 16 years of companionship, Maybank has been associated with ABBANK as a strategic shareholder through many activities promoting cooperation and development. This event officially marks a new step forward in the relationship between the two sides, especially in the context of ABBANK carrying out comprehensive transformation work, aiming to open up new development opportunities in the future for both ABBANK and Maybank.

Previously, ABBANK and Maybank also regularly cooperated in capital sources and trade finance transactions, international payments, as well as organized seminars to share information and experience in developing Retail Banking, Digital Banking and Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) segments. These are areas in which Maybank has experience and strengths in the market, in line with ABBANK's retail banking development strategy. Over the years, the cooperation between the two sides has also been implemented in many other areas such as credit, risk management, strategic planning, etc.

Expressing his expectation for strengthening the strategic cooperation between the two sides to achieve the transformation goals, Mr. Vu Van Tien, representative of ABBANK's board of directors, shared: "The board of directors gives the highest priority to ABBANK's transformation program. Investing in technology application development is important and necessary, but the decisive factor is still people, from senior leaders to all employees who need to have innovative thinking and master technology. Therefore, human development is our top priority. We hope that Maybank, with its successful lessons and practical experience, will accompany and send experts to support ABBANK in improving its team's capacity, meeting the requirements of transformation and achieving success."

Mr. Dato' Khairussaleh Ram, President and Group CEO, Maybank Bank also expressed: “Maybank wishes to support ABBank in relevant areas of expertise to help ABBANK realize its transformation strategies and goals. Retail, SME and Digitalization are areas where Maybank has made good progress, especially within the framework of the M25+ transformation program that we are implementing."
