The event was co-chaired by Director of the Department of International Cooperation (Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism), General Representative of Vietnam at EXPO 2025 Nguyen Phuong Hoa and General Representative of Thailand Piyachat Palanusorn.
For the first time, Vietnam and Thailand have created and renewed cultural experiences for the public by combining Muay Thai martial arts with traditional Vietnamese music.
While in traditional Muay Thai matches, music often resounds with the Pi trumpet, Ching cymbals and Glawng Khaek drums, this time, the performance space is breathed life into by the sounds of the monochord, zither, pipa and Vietnamese drums performed by artists from the Vietnam National Academy of Music.
Each decisive and flexible movement between attack and defense of Muay Thai fighters becomes lively, soft but still full of power on the background of Vietnamese music, with songs such as Nguoi oi nguoi o dung ve , Tu quy ... arousing curiosity, interest and many emotions in the audience.
The performance not only brings a new artistic experience, but also demonstrates Vietnam's spirit of creativity, initiative and deep integration in international cultural exchange activities at EXPO 2025.
At the end of the program, Vietnamese Representative General Nguyen Phuong Hoa presented souvenirs and expressed her thanks to the Vietnamese and Thai artists for their positive contributions to the event. The resounding and prolonged applause from the audience was a vivid proof of the successful combination between the two sides.
Previously, the Vietnam Exhibition House has continuously left its mark with colorful art performance exchange programs such as the Music and Dance Circle with American Native artists; saxophone exchange with artists from the Portuguese Exhibition House; harmonizing with traditional Malaysian dance performances; an interesting reunion between Thai dry puppetry and Vietnamese water puppetry; and with Saudi Arabian artists, bringing traditional music beyond geographical and linguistic boundaries.
This series of activities not only contributes to spreading Vietnamese cultural values to friends around the world, but also creates sustainable "artistic bridges", connecting the international community with the common language of emotions and creativity.
Not only to honor the national cultural heritage and promote traditional Vietnamese musical instruments to the world , the series of international art exchange activities is also an opportunity to introduce the image of a youthful, creative and unique Vietnam.
Talented young artists will be given the opportunity to perform and collaborate with international colleagues, thereby spreading the message of an integrated, inspiring and potential Vietnam.
In the coming time, the audience will continue to enjoy many interesting collaboration programs with countries such as Cambodia, Indonesia, Portugal and Poland.
