An Giang affirms education quality, surpassing many important targets

GD&TĐ - On August 1, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province held a conference to summarize the 2024-2025 school year and deploy directions and tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

Many outstanding results

In his summary report at the Conference, Mr. Huynh Van Hoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, said that in the 2024-2025 school year, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province (after the merger) has effectively implemented the theme "Innovation, quality improvement, solidarity and discipline".

Last school year, An Giang province had 1,341 preschool, general education and continuing education facilities, with 23,152 classrooms and more than 750,000 students. The staff, teachers and workers were 46,015 people.

One of the outstanding successes is the effective implementation of the 2018 General Education Program. 100% of managers and teachers are trained in the Program modules.

The quality of education continues to improve and achieve many impressive results. In the National High School Excellent Student Exam for the 2024-2025 school year, the province had 84/180 candidates winning prizes, accounting for 46.67% and an increase of 13 prizes compared to the previous year.

The 2025 high school graduation exam was successfully held, achieving a graduation rate of 99.24%, ranking 14th nationwide. Of which, 6 subjects had average scores in the top 10 nationwide, with the average scores in Math and English being the highest in years.

For preschool education, the rate of 5-year-old children mobilized to attend class reached 99.73%, exceeding the target by 1.25%; 100% of 5-year-old preschool children attended 2 sessions/day; the rate of 5-year-old preschool children completing the program reached 99.61%.

For secondary and high school education, most of the rates of academic results at Pass level or higher, training results at Pass level or higher, dropout rates... exceeded the target. Notably, the secondary school graduation rate reached 99.96%, exceeding the target by 7.76%.

As of June 31, 2025, the province had 746/1,282 schools meeting national standards, accounting for 58.19%. Infrastructure construction has also been focused on, with 100% of nurseries, kindergartens, and preschools recognized as safe schools.

In addition, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province has actively applied information technology and digital transformation. The use of digital transcripts has been officially implemented for all primary school students. The Department has issued digital signatures to 13,386 teachers, reaching 100% of the plan.

In addition to the outstanding achievements, the Education and Training sector of An Giang province still has some shortcomings and difficulties. There is still a shortage of teachers in specialized subjects such as Foreign Languages, Information Technology, Music, and Fine Arts. Some teachers are still limited in their foreign language and information technology skills and are slow to innovate teaching methods.

The rate of mobilizing 3-4 year old children to attend school is still low compared to the target. The work of eliminating illiteracy in ethnic minority areas still faces many difficulties. The rate of students repeating a grade at the secondary school level is 0.6%, not meeting the set target (≤ 0.4%).

Some educational institutions do not have enough classrooms to organize two sessions per day. The printing and distribution of local educational materials are still delayed due to the bidding process. The consultation and coordination work of some specialized departments is still slow and not timely...

Improve the quality of education for the new school year

At the conference, delegates had many opinions, recommendations and proposals related to some of the limitations of the education and training sector. Especially the mobilization of 3-4 year old nursery and kindergarten children to attend classes, career guidance and student streaming after secondary school, application of information technology and digital transformation...

Speaking at the conclusion of the Conference, Mr. Tran Quang Bao, Director of the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province, emphasized many key contents to improve the quality of education for the 2025-2026 school year.

Mr. Tran Quang Bao proposed to strengthen coordination between the People's Committees of communes and wards and the Department of Education and Training, pay attention to the fields of training and developing the teaching staff, improving the quality of moral education for students, ensuring environmental sanitation in schools, and strengthening coordination between educational management levels...

To overcome difficulties and continue to develop, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province has set key tasks for the 2025-2026 school year.

Specifically, the sector continues to effectively implement the 2018 General Education Program; innovates methods and forms to improve the quality of preschool education, and at the same time gradually universalizes education for 3-4 year old children.

Promote and improve the quality of STEM/STEAM education, digital competency development education, AI education, career education and student orientation.

Improve the quality of foreign language teaching, especially English; at the same time, continue to promote digital transformation and administrative reform throughout the industry.

With the achievements and clear orientation, the An Giang Education and Training sector is striving to overcome difficulties, aiming for a new school year with more expectations and breakthrough achievements.

On this occasion, the Department of Education and Training of An Giang province awarded civil servants of the Department of Education and Training in 2024; and awarded collectives and individuals with outstanding achievements in the emulation movement "Maintaining and improving the quality of the high school graduation exam in 2025".

The units also signed an agreement to maintain and develop the high school graduation rate in the 2025-2026 school year; a plan to launch a competition on the topic: "Maintaining the high school graduation rate; Moral education for students and green schools, clean toilets".
