According to Bloomberg, reporter Mark Gurman said in his latest Power On newsletter that Apple not only develops its own processors and displays on the iPhone, but also produces batteries and image sensors for the camera. This continues Apple's philosophy in the mobile space, where the company has more control over the creation of its own components, helping to differentiate itself from competitors.

Apple wants to master image sensor technology on future iPhones

Gurman believes Apple’s processors for smartphones, tablets, and PCs will move to 2nm manufacturing technology in the near future. The company is also developing its own Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modems and controllers to replace those from Qualcomm and Broadcom, along with a number of other internal component innovations.

MicroLED displays will first appear on the Apple Watch, and then expand to other devices from the brand. This has been in the works for at least five years, with varying degrees of success.

Second, the development of more advanced batteries is done in collaboration with specialized companies. Apple hopes to be able to independently develop advanced technologies in this area in the future, but will still be forced to outsource battery production to subcontractors.

Finally, Apple is investing resources in developing its own image sensors for the iPhone camera. The iPhone's photography capabilities are a key feature for consumers, so the company wants to gain a competitive advantage in this area. In addition, these developments will be useful for Apple in developing augmented reality devices and active driver assistance systems for self-driving cars.
