“Apple continues to maintain its leading position in the industry, but rivals such as Huawei and Xiaomi are also leveraging their diverse tablet portfolio and comprehensive IoT ecosystem to attract users,” said Himani Mukka, research director at Canalys .
Looking at the first quarter, Apple still dominated the global tablet market with a growth of 14% compared to the same period last year. The company shipped 13.7 million devices, equivalent to 35.5% of the tablet market share.
Coming in second place is Samsung with 18% of the global tablet market share. The number of tablets shipped by the Korean tech giant reached 6.6 million devices, down 5.2% compared to the same period last year.
Xiaomi ranked third with more than 3 million devices shipped, accounting for 8.3% of the global tablet market share in the first quarter of 2025. Notably, Xiaomi was the company with the highest growth rate when the number of devices shipped increased by 56.1% compared to the same period last year.
The next positions belong to Lenovo (6.9% market share) and Huawei (6.5% market share) respectively.
“From early 2025, many users will choose to upgrade their older devices to newer models. However, this growth will not last. The global tablet market will see slower growth, but demand for the premium segment will remain strong,” said Kieren Jessop, research director at Canalys.
