To be considered for high school graduation, candidates must complete the required number of exams. In some special cases, candidates are entitled to special treatment.
2024 is the first year of applying Circular No. 02/2024/TT-BGDDT on amending and supplementing a number of articles of the regulations on high school graduation exams. Candidates should pay attention to the regulations on their rights when taking the exam to proactively prepare a plan when problems arise. In addition to each specific case, the exam regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training also provide instructions on specific conditions.

According to the exam regulations, to be considered for recognition of high school graduation, candidates must take the exam and complete the required number of tests. However, in some special cases, candidates are entitled to special graduation privileges.
Specifically, there are three cases where candidates are considered for special high school graduation:
Firstly, in case of accident, illness or special emergency within 10 days before the exam date, or on the first exam day, candidates cannot take the exam. These candidates must have a good or better academic and behavioral rating for the entire 12th grade year.
Second, in case of accident, illness or special emergency after taking at least one exam and cannot continue taking the exam, or after an accident, illness or special emergency, voluntarily taking the remaining exams. These candidates must ensure the following conditions: The scores of the exams taken for graduation recognition must be 5.0 points or higher; be classified in grade 12 with average or higher academic performance and good or higher conduct.
Third, athletes who meet the conditions are considered for special consideration according to the provisions of Article 5, Decree No. 36/2019/ND-CP dated April 29, 2019 of the Government .
Specifically, Article 5 of Decree No. 36/2019/ND-CP stipulates: “Athletes who achieve excellent results in national or international sports competitions are considered for special graduation from junior high school or high school if the exam time coincides with the time the athlete trains abroad or participates in international sports competitions”.
The 2024 high school graduation exam will take place on June 27 and 28, with more than 1 million candidates registered to take the exam.
