Hue: improving fishermen's lives, raising awareness of law compliance when going offshore and sticking to the sea

On August 1, in Hue City, the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" took place with many gifts including medicine bags, battery sets, and light bulbs for fishermen to encourage and help them continue to go out to sea.

At the program, the Organizing Committee awarded 50 gifts (each worth more than 4 million VND) including the handbook "Things to know about fishing", battery set, LED lights, medicine bag and some essential items for typical fishermen.

In addition, the program "Lighting up the sea with fishermen" also awarded 20 scholarships, about 3 million VND/scholarship, to children of fishermen in difficult circumstances who have overcome difficulties to study well.

According to the Organizing Committee, Hue is the 23rd locality in the country in the journey to support fishermen, going through 22 provinces and cities, the program organizes many propaganda activities for fishermen to understand and apply the law in legal fishing, contributing to removing the IUU yellow card, promoting the development of fishermen's lives and developing the marine economy .

The program also presented more than 3,800 gifts to outstanding and disadvantaged fishermen, along with hundreds of scholarships for children of fishermen in difficult circumstances who overcame difficulties to study. Coordinated with medical facilities to organize medical examinations and provide free medicine to 2,000 people in the provinces...

According to the Organizing Committee, in addition to gift and scholarship activities, the program continues to promote the law on legal seafood exploitation, aiming at sustainable marine economic development according to the marine aquaculture project until 2030, with a vision to 2045.

At the same time, it is expected that through these activities, it will contribute to improving the lives of fishermen, raising awareness of law compliance when going offshore, and working with localities and relevant agencies to soon remove the "yellow card" for Vietnamese seafood.
