On the morning of June 24, the Organizing Committee of the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association Football Tournament - Thai Son Nam Cup 2025 held a press conference to introduce the tournament.

The tournament was held to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025), while also creating a fun playground and creating solidarity for journalists in Ho Chi Minh City.

According to annual tradition, the Ho Chi Minh City Journalists Association cooperates with Saigon Entrepreneur Magazine and the Sports Reporters Club to organize many activities, including the Sports Festival - Ho Chi Minh City Journalists' Day, including tennis, pickleball and football (men's and women's) for reporters, editors, officers and employees of central and local newspapers and radio stations in the city.

The football tournament will start from June 28 to July 9 at Tao Dan Stadium with the participation of 12 men's teams and 4 women's teams.

According to the results of the men's football draw, Tuoi Tre newspaper team is in Group B with VOH and VNExpress. Group A includes FPT Play, Saigon Economic Magazine, SCTV. Group C includes Lien Quan Phap Luat TP.HCM - Znews, Nguoi Lao Dong, Saigon Giai Phong. Group D includes Thanh Nien, HTV, VTV9.

The four women's teams include Ho Chi Minh City Law Newspaper, Nguoi Lao Dong, Saigon Giai Phong and SCTV.

Teams compete in a round robin format with no draws. In the event that regular time ends in a draw, a 6m penalty shootout will be held (5 kicks for each team).

The winning team will get 3 points, the winning penalty shootout will get 2 points, the losing penalty shootout will still get 1 point, and the losing team will get no points. The top two teams in each group will compete in a knockout match to determine the champion.

The winning men's team will receive a trophy, gold medal and VND10 million in prize money. The winning women's team will receive a trophy, gold medal and VND4 million in prize money. In addition to individual titles, the women's team will also receive the title "Miss Soccer" with gifts and VND1 million in prize money.
