Super typhoon Yagi caused heavy losses to seafood enterprises in Quang Ninh and Hai Phong . It is estimated that some factories lost 1-2 billion VND, while some factories lost nearly 100 billion VND.
Super typhoon Yagi has passed, but severe consequences remain for seafood businesses in Hai Phong and Quang Ninh .
Many factories had their roofs blown off, their electrical systems damaged, and frozen goods affected by the power outage. According to calculations from businesses, some factories will have to stop operating for 5-7 days, while others will suffer more severe losses, taking 20 days or more to repair and basically restore the production system to work again.
In addition to material damage, production disruptions can affect orders, putting businesses at risk of being fined by customers for not completing contracts on time.
Ms. Nguyen Thi Thanh, Chairwoman of the Board of Members and Mr. Nguyen Truong, Production Director of Viet Truong Company Limited said that the company suffered great damage after storm No. 3. Of the 3 factories, factory No. 2 and factory No. 3 suffered the greatest damage, with an estimated total loss of up to 100 billion VND.
At Factory No. 2, all 5 production workshops were destroyed by the storm; 2 packaging and pellet warehouses had their roofs blown off and collapsed completely. In particular, the factory's main generator system was completely damaged, leaving the entire factory without electricity.
The company’s imported raw materials are temporarily stored in containers at the port, so the company has to pay additional storage and electricity costs at the port. The management board estimates that the company will need to stop production for about 20 days to clean up the factory, and must wait until there is enough electricity and water before returning to production.

At Quang Ninh Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company, Mr. Do Quang Sang, Chairman of the Board of Directors and General Director, said that the company's production workshop had part of its corrugated iron roof blown away, the stone workshop had its corrugated iron roof completely blown away, and 400-500 square meters of corrugated iron roof was overturned.
In the immediate future, the estimated damage to the facilities is nearly 2 billion VND, not to mention the damage caused by the company having to temporarily stop production for 4-5 days to clean up the entire factory. The damage after the storm also affected the production progress and delivery to customers.

In Hai Phong, roads leading to many seafood processing factories and plants continue to be blocked by fallen trees. The entrance to the warehouse and port of the Hai Phong Seafood Export Delivery Enterprise (under the Hanoi Seafood Import-Export Joint Stock Company) saw many large trees broken and fallen, causing the enterprise's transportation and trading activities to be disrupted. The enterprise representative said that it is not known when the road leading to the enterprise and port will be cleared because the city has too many congestion points to deal with.

Sharing the losses of businesses affected by Typhoon Yagi, representatives of the Vietnam Association of Seafood Exporters and Producers (VASEP) led by Deputy General Secretary Nguyen Hoai Nam and the association's office staff visited and encouraged businesses.
VASEP also sent an open letter, calling on all member businesses to provide material and spiritual support to members and people affected by Typhoon Yagi.
