The man arrested outside Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's campaign event in Coachella, California, on October 13 has denied plotting to assassinate the former president.

Western media such as Fox News, The Hill ... quoted an announcement from the Riverside County Sheriff's Office saying that police arrested suspect Vem Miller, 49 years old, living in Las Vegas, when he drove a black SUV to a checkpoint near the entrance to Mr. Trump's campaign event in Coachella.
He was later booked into a local detention center on charges of possession of a loaded firearm and possession of a large capacity magazine. Miller is currently out on $5,000 bail and is scheduled for a court appearance on January 2, 2025.
On October 14, in a phone interview, suspect Vem Miller said that he brought two guns to the campaign event only for self-defense, because he had previously received threats of retaliation related to his job at the media company America Happens Network.
Fox News reported that Miller said he has worked in the media industry for about 30 years, with many major artists, and launched America Happens Network to fight against "censorship" in the media.
Mr. Miller also accused Riverside County Sheriff Chad Bianco of making false statements about the incident at a press conference over the weekend, and said he had hired a lawyer to sue Mr. Bianco.
Bianco told reporters on October 13 that his deputies “may have prevented another assassination attempt” on Trump. However, authorities have not yet found any evidence that Miller plotted to kill the former president.
Public records even show that Mr. Miller is a member of the Republican Party. The man also asserted to the media that he is a supporter of Mr. Trump and was shocked by the arrest and the charges.
Sources close to the Trump campaign also said they did not consider Miller's actions to be an assassination attempt.
Miller’s arrest comes amid growing concerns about political violence in the United States. Former President Trump was shot by suspect Thomas Matthew Crook while campaigning in Butler on July 3, injuring his ear.
Crooks was later shot dead by a US Secret Service sniper team, but the fact that the gunman was able to fire multiple shots at Mr Trump before being discovered has raised questions about the security procedures for the presidential candidate.
On September 15, the former president was once again the target of another attack plot while playing golf in West Palm Beach, Florida. Fortunately, this time, the US Secret Service detected the gunman early and stopped him in time.
Over the weekend, Mr. Trump requested protection by helicopters and military vehicles during the final weeks of the campaign.
