Inside the 'flying penthouse' for the rich to travel

VnExpressVnExpress04/07/2023

The $75 million Dassault Falcon 10X private jet is dubbed the "penthouse in the sky" for its luxurious design.

When French firm Dassault unveiled the flying penthouse at the Paris Air Show in June, viewers were enthralled by its design features, including a spacious cabin measuring 203 centimeters high. The plane can travel 12,000 kilometers (7,500 miles) and reach a top speed of more than 1,100 kilometers per hour (780 miles per hour).

The plane has a bedroom, bathroom with shower, and living area. The bathroom is at the back and is rated as "more like a hotel toilet than an airplane". The bathroom space has enough space for guests to sit and enjoy the view from the window. The floor is paved with marble to add luxury.

The bedroom is 276cm wide, with a large bed that is said to "look much more comfortable than a business-class hotel room". At the foot of the bed is a large-screen TV placed on a long wooden table.

Past the bedroom is the main seating area, which also doubles as a reception area. This cabin holds eight airline seats with a fold-out table design large enough to accommodate a computer, work papers, or a meal. There are several buttons next to the seats, including two light switches and a flight attendant call button.

Next is the galley, where food and drink are prepared with a small sink and counter for drinks, glasses and a coffee maker, two ovens. The pilot's cockpit is at the front of the plane.

Dassault said the cockpit uses a digital flight control system with integrated military technology. The vision system also incorporates the Falcon Eye feature, which enables the aircraft to operate "in near-zero visibility conditions."

The price for passengers to use this service on the plane has not been announced.
